Macbeth is full of witchkraft and deeply human psychology. Fascinated by Shakespeare‘s play, Verdi composed an opera with music so powerful that there’s no escape. From the very opening of the witches’ chorus, the music is of a hauntingly supernatural quality.

Colourful, historically accurate costumes and Olavinlinna’s monumental stone walls bring a regal flair to this production – as if you were visiting Macbeth’s Dunsinane castle itself!
